Rebecca Miller Yoga

Becky is a 500-hour Yoga Alliance accredited yoga instructor based in Weston-super-Mare, Somerset. Her friendly, welcoming classes are open to all ages and abilities, and are currently held around the Weston-super-Mare area, in Hutton and Bleadon. She also teaches in Wiltshire. Becky is available for private one-to-one tuition, and runs wonderful, relaxing retreats throughout the year, in both England and abroad.

About Becky

“My yoga journey began in 2002 when I was slowly recovering from a very bad fall whilst snowboarding in France. I started practicing yoga as a way of healing and strengthening my injured shoulder and I never looked back. I found yoga gave me not only balance and strength of the physical body but also balance and strength of the mind. I continued to practice yoga and in 2008 I travelled to India to study and practice the art of yoga in more depth. This is when I realised that I not only wanted to be a student of yoga but I wanted to share this wonderful ancient art with other people all around the world. That’s when my teaching journey began. After India, I travelled to Byron Bay, Australia in 2009 and completed my 500 hour Yoga Alliance Certificate. I continued to teach yoga as I followed my dream to travel the world. My journey also took me to Maui, Hawaii where I studied with one of the greatest teachers I know and one of my inspirations, Nadia Toraman, adding to my knowledge of the physical, mental and spiritual practice of yoga. Apart from yoga and travelling, my other passion in life is surfing. These three passions took me to the beautiful and spiritual island of Bali, Indonesia for 4 years where I continued to practice and teach yoga to both adults and children of all abilities. In 2014 I moved back to the UK where I continue to teach and develop my knowledge of teaching yoga by attending continuing education workshops. More recently I completed my Restorative Yoga Teacher Training at Tri Yoga in London with Anna Ashby and I now teach a monthly restorative yoga class at various locations around Somerset. With my passion for seeing the world and its many cultures I have also started to run yoga retreats in the UK and at various locations around the world. A chance for me to share my love of yoga and travel with you.”

I am currently doing a 300 hour Advanced Teacher Training course run over the duration of a year with Noah Maze. He is an amazing and inspirational teacher with a strong focus on alignment, anatomy and philosophy. I love being a teacher of yoga, but I am forever a student.

What

is Yoga?

Yoga is an ancient Indian form of exercise that focuses on strength, flexibility and breathing to boost physical and mental wellbeing, leading to greater integration of being, internal peacefulness and clarity of mind.

The word “yoga” means to “unite”. Yoga is all about uniting or harmonising the body with the mind and breath through breathing techniques, yoga postures and meditation.

The practice of yoga helps to relieve stress, unclutter the mind and helps you to have more focus in life. It can also help us to find a place of peace, tranquility and stillness in a world often consumed by chaos.

Restorative Yoga

In the modern world, we rarely give ourselves permission to just stop, breath and be still. We are constantly rushing around, often creating a lot of tension in the body and mind and stimulating the nervous system.

Over time this can have an ill effect on both the body and the mind, so it is really important that we give ourselves the self-compassion to slow down and relax.

Restorative yoga is a series of poses that include the use of props such as bolsters, blocks, straps and blankets to help the student explore deep relaxation, stillness and inner peace. In these supported poses the body and the mind is guided in to relaxation to find stillness and calm with conscious breath.

Each student is given the space and encouragement to let go of tension and stress in the mind, body and breath so they are able to relax deeply, be present and open their hearts.

Once a month I hold a 2-3 hour restorative yoga workshop at various venues around Somerset. Please message or call me for more details about these sessions.
